The Futureheads. Death Cab

The Futureheads are one of those bands that make me shudder. Talented and gifted. Their sound is influenced by a whole microcosm of bands, from I to Jam, Fugazi from the Talking Heads, but especially by Gang Of Four and XTC. So far, the British quartet composed by Ross Millard (guitar, vocals), Barry Hyde (vocals, guitar), David Craig Jaff (bass, vocals) and Dave Hyde (drums, brother of Barry) has released two albums: the first self titled is 2004, while his successor, "News & Tributes' was released two years later, received a lukewarm consensus of critics and audiences that led the British label of the group (679 Records) to download in November 2006. It seemed the end for ours, but a surprise last November, the band has revived the business by performing live in his native Sunderland, also published on the official website the single "Broke Up The Time", in free download. The first two months of 2008 were occupied in a lengthy UK tour with locals and universities, before the announcement of the new album, expected next May 23 and titled "This Is Not The World", described as "most punk" in the previous . A week before the release (on Nul Records) The Futureheads will be in Italy for three dates, May 16 Roncade (TV) at the New Age Club, May 17 in Bologna, the Cove, and May 18 in Milan, for a concert with free admission to the Rocket. Intnto, Let us enjoy the new, rough single "The Beginning Of The Twist", among rough slashes of guitar and voice polyphonic.

OK, we get straight to the point: there is none like Death Cab For Cutie. I have simply changed the lives of a group that even if he tried it would not be able to write bad songs. Never. It is the proof "I Will Possess Your Heart", a single eight-minute and a half trying out a bass line and a joint plan and battery loads of emphasis, with the soft guitar reminiscent of the best Cold War Kids.
I repeat, no one like them.

Disc of the Month: Dead Meadow "Old Growth" (Matador)

I Dead Meadow sono un trio proveniente dalla suburbia di Washington, DC. They were formed in 1998 and since then have released six CDs, the last of which, exactly, is this gem by the name of "Old Growth".
The work is positively influenced by the transfer of the band in Los Angeles: the usual references to the band, always suspended between the Sixties and Seventies, in fact (Blue Cheer, Sleep, Black Sabbath) adds a stylistic vein typically "California": The Doors, Neil Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Love, which gives the disc a unique vintage patina. Think of a wall of sound and annihilating narcoleptic, full of reverb and sovrincisioni, take everything and send it to loop backwards. You will get this wonder that is unmatched in the crowded landscape musicale odierno.

Rooney. Night Falls Over Kortedala

Ebbene, io seguo OC. Comunque sia, la mattina dello scorso 8 dicembre vedo su Internet that they would performed the same evening, the New Age Club Roncade, not far from home. I have nothing else to do, so I go there. Two things strike me: the amount of olds screaming in the front row and the lack of a light box (in practice, the band plays without feeling). The show is far from compromise, with two hours of a much caught by the whole repertoire, and even with two covers, one of the other Beach Boys and Del Shannon even (!). A show in a small room, the last European tour. No rock star pose. So much so that eventually I can even talk a bit with Taylor, the guitarist. Definitely a member of a band with your feet on the ground.
's why I like Rooney.

Red.
Spooky.
"The fireball of the sun swallows the skyline in the distance, and is stained only by the small black clouds all around."
considered harmless.
Never seen a sky like that.
And the night fell, meanwhile, over Kortedala neighborhood.

Wrestling Sitting On His Chest

Track Of The Month

Yo La Tengo "I Heard You Looking"
(from the album "Painful," Matador 1993)

few days ago, stopping in front of the Twenty-three of the window (old record store in the city center), I noticed in the second floor, a display full of CD "spotted" Cat Power, Bonnie Prince Billy, Arctic Monkeys, Bauhaus, and so, in practice most of the catalogs of Matador, 4AD, and Domino. All the modest sum of eight euro per piece. The choice, of course, is difficult, and it happens to me only has enough money to buy a single album. In one corner, but I see a copy of "Prisoners of Love", complete retrospective of Yo La Tengo.
Who's Yo La Tengo? A trio of Hoboken, New Jersey, twenty-five years to the sounds around the world, beautiful public disks, and is cited as a source of inspiration for many contemporary indie bands. And in Italy, Obviously, no one ranks them. Their album? Unavailable. Their concerts? Rare in our country. But even so, great. Although he
their last, great job, "I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass," I know little of their previous career. So, without ado I bring home the compilation in question, two for the price of a compact.
What I can say is that this is one of the best bargains "record" he has ever done: as the subtitle says, in fact, this is a sparkling collection of small gems of psychedelic guitar pop, with shades ranging from folk to blues, encroaching even more minimal electronics. But the Song, the piece that four days is constantly in repeat mode in my player, "I Heard You Looking": seven minutes of pure instrumental magic, in which spirits are fifteen years of indie rock, roughly in that period of time ranging 1980 to 1995.
Believe. In the opening part of a distorted guitar around but discreet, to recall the melodic loops of Pavement, but also what Husker Du were making at the end of his career, with a hint of folk, to let the rhythm section, which gives things a notable aspect of the first Dinosaur Jr. as codeine. But it is not over, because the phrasing carrier is gradually fading, more free, up to bring to mind Sonic Youth and the noise, but also Television, a major source of inspiration for our own. Up to go back, to recoil, to resume the reins of the situation for a moment as if we had stopped for a little digression. And believe me, this is one of those little masterpieces in which the voice is not needed.

Procedure Of Need Analysis

THE CRIBS.

spoken part of one of my favorite bands, The Cribs. This is a trio consisting of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman (guitar and bass respectively, both singers) and younger brother Ross (drums) and a native of Wakefield, British village not far from Leeds. To date, Our has released three albums of sparkling guitar rock influenced by the Strokes as Huggy Bear, or "The Cribs" (2004), "The New Fellas" (2005), and "Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever "(2007), all on Wichita. The protagonist of turbulent tours-collapse which saw the three, injured and have panic attacks on several occasions, the band has recently announced to be playing for a "noble crusade to combat infiltrated the mainstream," somewhat pretentious statement, but not still denied: but now playing in local Dick, in fact, the Cribs have more time to baste the most intimate shows, and all dates are still on board addressed their battered Ford van, the same as the beginning. Strongly recommended.

Is It Bad To Sleep With A Faja On

Intro.

Well, I am to inaugurate this blog, yet another step in a series of failed sites I manage (almost all collapsed after a few months). Anyway: this will be a space open to all comments, compliments and criticisms are welcome. The theme will be music, but I will speak a little bit of everything.
